All data available on the e-see system is checked and processed by e-see data centre staff before being published. We do not allow contributors or their agencies to upload data directly to the system. Therefore all data to be listed must be submitted to the data centre.
The process
- Decide what assets should be listed. (see more below for guidance).
- Prepare your assets and associated data according to the requirements. (see more below for guidance).
- If you have products to photograph - please contact us.
- Send your data and instructions to the e-see data centre via email, FTP or on disk.
- Check your listing (once you receive notification that it is listed).
- Advise users/partners that data is available.

What should be listed?
Generally you should list only assets that are going to be re-used multiple times by different users.
For example it doesn't make a lot of sense to list a large piece of artwork that is only going to be used once by one person or company. In this instance it will be more cost effective to courier a disk to the user. Unless the user is in a foreign location and the courier costs are high or perhaps you want to keep an online archive copy of the artwork.
Data requirements
Generally
- Each image/logo/document has been saved individually as you wish to be finally presented
- EPS files whether Mac or PC, should be saved with 8bit Tiff previews only
- Images embedded within the file should also have 8bit Tiff previews.
- Text has been converted to paths.
- All unnecessary colours have been removed.
- Vector/Line Art: should be supplied as Freehand EPS, Illustrator (7 > .ai) or Illustrator EPS (version 7-10) or generic EPS (editable). Previews must be 8bit Tiff. Vector files with embedded or linked raster images: should also be saved as high-resolution raster files (e.g. Photoshop EPS version 6 >) with the image embedded, clear-cut and clipping paths included. Note you may wish to send us two sizes of this raster file, A4 & A5 are good sizes and usable for different applications. If you want poster or signage size data available we recommend that you should develop vector artwork or create a special poster sized version of your image/artwork.
- Bitmap/Raster Art should be supplied as Photoshop , Photoshop EPS, Tiff or JPEG files and should be at the highest resolution that you wish to make available (generally 300dpi/ ppi). Consideration should be given to physical size of image. (E.g. Product shots should normally be no larger than 15cm x 15cm). An A5 size image at 300dpi is a practical minimum size for a source file. Files supplied should be either CMYK or RGB colour spaces (or greyscale if the image is only available in Greyscale). Note you may wish to send us two sizes of this raster file, A4 & A5 are good sizes and usable for different applications. If you want poster or signage size data available we recommend that you should develop vector artwork or create a special poster sized version of your image/artwork.
- Multi-channel spot raster or DuoTone images using special colours should be supplied in DCS2 (single file) EPS format with an 8 bit Tiff colour preview.
- Generally artwork should be saved at the physical image size that you wish users to receive. (Note vector artwork can be re-sized without affecting quality whereas raster or bitmapped images will deteriorate when they are resized)
- Fonts in images
- Include fonts used in EPS files
- Convert all text to paths in logos Include all necessary fonts
- Include the printer and screen font suitcases/packages (Macintosh files).
- Embed fonts in Windows files.
- Linked Files
- Placed files need to be saved in the best quality possible (die 300 dpi/120ppcm)
- Save as EPS format with “JPEG” compression if there is a large background image.
- Embed any placed images in native Illustrator files
- Link any placed images in native Freehand files
- Data can be submitted
- via email (if under 10mb)
- on CD
- on DVD
- on Zip drive (100mb or 250mb)
- on Flash media (such as SD card/Memory Stick)
- Always supply a PDF or hardcopy proof with your data.
Logos (and vector artwork)
Logos are generally created in a vector drawing or illustration application such as Adobe Illustrator, Macromedia Freehand, Corel Draw, etc. If this is the case you need to send us the original vector artwork, not a raster version of the logo (e.g. NOT a JPEG or Tiff).
When a vector logo has an embedded raster image you will need to supply a version of the vector logo with the raster image embedded and one with the raster file linked. You should also give consideration to how large the logo will be reproduced when it has an embedded raster image as resizing of the logo cannot be done accurately if the file is too small.
You will also need to supply us a separate file for each colour space of the logo. That is a separate file for the SPOT, CMYK, RGB colour and B&W versions of a logo.
You should also supply us with a copy of your brand guidelines (brand manual).
Images/Photography (raster images)
Photographic images are raster images or raster file formats.
Typical file formats are Tiff (.tif), JPEG (.jpg) and Photoshop (.psd or .eps).
Consideration should be given to the likely use of downloaded assets and the requirements for size and resolution. Note that while we can repurpose and produce smaller versions of the images accurately we cannot produce larger versions.
The basic principal is to supply a source file as large as will be required while having consideration for reasonable download times.
Generally an A4 image at 300dpi resolution will be sufficiently large yet when compressed be small enough to download for most users. However many source files are smaller that this and they may be sufficient for your requirements. For example our standard size for product pack shots published on the e-see system is 15x15cm at 300dpi (about a 12mb Photoshop file).
You should base your decision about image and file size on your requirements and the requirements of your users. We can provide advice in this area if needed.
Note: for raster images we can reduce the size of the source file but not enlarge it.
Product Images/Pack Shots
Product images or pack shots are photographic images and are raster images or raster file formats.
Typical file formats are Tiff (.tif), JPEG (.jpg) and Photoshop (.psd or .eps).
Generally our standard size for product pack shots published on the e-see system is 15x15cm at 300dpi (about a 12mb Photoshop file). But many supplied images are smaller than this and some larger. We will resize larger files to meet our standard size (unless you instruct otherwise) and we will leave smaller supplied images at the supplied size.
These sizes are suitable for most in-market advertising work by your retail channel. For use in larger sizes, for example a large format poster, you should supply a larger source image to suit and advise us at the time that you need a larger file format stored.
The basic principal is to supply a source file as large as will be required while having consideration for reasonable download times.
Note: for raster images we can reduce the size of the source file but not enlarge it.
Print Advertising
Print advertising can be a created in number of formats and with a variety of applications. Most agencies and or design firms will create a print ad using applications such as Quark Express, Adobe Indesign or Macromedia Freehand. Ads may also be created in Adobe Photoshop.
Typical file formats are .QXD, .IND, FHD, PSD, EPS or PDF,
Generally source files are supplied in their finished size, say A4, A3 , DPS or particular magazine format. Ads are then repurposed to high and low res PDF and stored along with the source document type.
Colour space should be CMYK and care should be taken to ensure that all embedded or linked images are also CMYK.
Type should be saved as or converted to paths to ensure compatibility for all users (as users may not have your typefaces installed).
You should supply an editable file and one that allows for bleed and adjustment for various print media. Always supply embedded or linked images separately in addition to the main file and ensure type is converted to paths.
Stationery Templates
Templates are working documents and are therefore saved in their native formats. Generally these are supplied in vector or desktop publishing application formats.
Typical file formats are .QXD, .IND, FHD, PSD, EPS or PDF,
You should also supply a low res PDF proof of the finished document as a guide to users.
Sometime parts of a template are editable by users. For example a co-op ad where a retailer can enter personalized store information. If this is the case, ensure that non-editable text is converted to paths and that any editable text is either in a widely used typeface/font or that you include the font files required with the source file supplied.
Signage
Signage should be supplied in Vector format wherever possible and preferably be specified in SPOT Pantone colours.
Vector artwork enables sign makers and sign writers to resize artwork without loss of resolution or quality.
Typical file formats are , .AI, FHD, EPS, PDF, or CDR
Type
Fonts should be supplied in True type format for both Mac and PC separately.
A preview image of the font set should be supplied in vector form for displaying a preview on the site.
Audio
Audio recording should be supplied in their highest quality format for down sampling.
We accept most standard consumer formats including: MP3, WMV, Wave, file formats
Video/TVC's
Video Recording should be MPEG
